There is an access to GLA common land and National Forest where Golmeyer Creek and Hercules Road converge. In the winter months there are several land owners that use the area for winter recreation. What would it take for the snow plow to do a couple of sweeps on the west side of the road (to the gate) so that two or three vehicles could park there at a time? Also, on the east side across from the gate the road is wide enough that if plowed could hold one or two more vehicles.

The area in question can be plowed but snow posts should be installed first. Snow posts are U shaped posts that are commonly seen along 89 and East River Road. They are usually placed about 3 feet from the edge of the road so snow plow operators know where the road edge is(3 feet from the post). They are drilled for reflectors so they can be seen at night. There are steep drop offs on the edges of the parking area and they disappear when the snow gets deeper than 12 inches or so. Walter got stuck here last year when he went off the edge of the road. Fred got stuck twice on Sagittarius Skyway and Rich got stuck once. All of the drivers got stuck when they misjudged where the edge of the road was. All required a skid steer or tow truck to pull them out. Snow Posts would have prevented all four drive off instances. The GLA could have saved about $700.00 in towing costs as well. It was about $350.00 each time to pull Fred back onto the road. We have snow posts available in the NG Quonset hut. According to Charlene they are scheduled to be placed along the edge of Upper Hercules and Sagittarius Skyway by Fred. Perhaps he could mark out the gate area as well.
